President's Welcome

some band

As the chapter president, I would like to say on behalf of all of our members:

Welcome to Al-Lu-We Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). Our chapter is celebrating its 35th year for bringing business women of all cultures and diverse careers together for one common goal; to promote and support the development of women everywhere. To give women a chance to receive training and professional development to assist them in their careers as well as their personal lives. We support women yearly by awarding scholarships for those returning to the classroom and for those just starting their educational journey. Our chapter is full of rich tradition and at the same time working constantly to adapt to the needs of "Today's Business Woman". We offer educational and motivational topics at each meeting given by speakers of various industry and backgrounds. Please come and join us; let us share with you this unique and fulfilling experience!

Our Chapter Vision Statement:

To provide a safe and supportive environment for members to learn life and business skills, and to provide a warm, kind, and generous Chapter which encourages friendship, fun, and opportunities for personal growth and development.

ABWA Mission Statement and History

another band

To bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.

In the 1940s, working women were making new inroads to the business world. Women were changing the face of industry and having a positive economic impact. Hilary A. Bufton Jr., a Kansas city businessman, recognized women's potential, and saw the need for an organization to support and empower them to reach their career goals. As a result, in 1949, Bufton founded the American Business Women's Association. ABWA has dedicated 65 years to women's education and provided workplace skills and career-development training. Professional development remains the cornerstone of ABWA today.
